Slam Out Loud in collaboration with Goodera is organizing a fundraising drive to amplify voices at SOL and garner support for our COVID-response project Arts For All.
We are an Indian for mission, non profit that uses artforms like poetry, storytelling, visual arts, and theatre to help disadvantaged children aged 6-17 find their voice through creative expression. We place professional artists in classrooms for a 5-year program and through lived experience create scalable, contextualized learning products. SOL enables children from vulnerable communities to build Creative Confidence – a combination of 21st Century and SEL Skills including self-esteem and critical thinking.
About our COVID-Response Project:
Slam Out Loud’s COVID-response project Arts For All aims to leverage the power of arts and the reach of multiple low tech platforms to deliver mental wellbeing and SEL support to the most vulnerable children at scale. By offering localized, need-sensitive and engaging at-home audio, video, text, and print resources for learners who have limited internet access, we are leading children towards creative outcomes and building mental resilience during the COVID-19 based school closure period.
We have rapidly adapted our interventions to create resources that are free of cost, interactive, and accessible in English & Hindi (and translated in 4 more languages) – made available through various low-tech distribution channels (WhatsApp, IVRS and Radio), as well as in the process of being distributed as printed copies in collaboration with on-ground NGOs and State governments. Our art based SEL activities (here are samples of our DIY Visual Art, Poetry, Storytelling and Theater courses) currently reach 4.7 million children across 23 Indian states and 19 countries.
How will the funds be utilized
1. To scale our COVID-response project to reach 15 million children across 10 major Indian States and make content accessible, adaptable and free of cost to children.
2. Towards setting up of a low-tech WhatsApp API that will redefine how children receive activities regularly, and in setting up an Integrated Voice Response System (IVRS) for children with little to no internet access.
3. Sustaining operation costs, including costs for program development, dissemination costs as well as in designing a curriculum that keeps children’s well being at the forefront.
4. To bring together like-minded changemakers who can contribute to our vision, and help amplify children’s voices across the world.
