The past year and a half in the pandemic were extremely challenging for all of us, bit more for the less fortunate. Many daily wage earners lost their jobs and innumerable women were subject to domestic violence. Witnessing so many deaths all around from the confines of our homes took a huge toll on our mental health. It will take us a lot of time before we completely process what we experienced.
Daan Utsav is celebrated every year to give people hope and faith. At a time when the world is in dire need of hope, faith and joy, Treasures of Innocence is happy to participate in Daan Utsav. We work with around 100 children and their mothers across various slum areas in Kolkata, and rural areas in West Bengal. After these very trying times, we think interacting and celebrating with their peers during these 7 days of Daan Utsav can spread a little bit of joy and happiness among the children. Anandadhara will primarily focus on that. The children will write and draw in their letters and then exchange it among themselves. The children will then give gifts to their mothers bought from their own savings and packed and decorated by themselves, as a token of appreciation for all the hard work they do every day. We will spread awareness about Covid 19 safety protocols. Finally we will conclude with fun games and music.
