Waste to Wealth

Activity 1: Date: 03/09/2019
Every school will engage their kids in waste to wealth activity where they reuse waste materials/used materials to create valuable things that can be used by the community around them or in their school.
Suggested materials that can be made: Paper Bags, Cloth Bags, Flower pots, Pen stands, Crafts, Home decors, Cardboard etc.,
Resources required: Waste newspapers, Cutters, Scissors, Glue, Color papers for decoration, Plastic waste water bottles, Cardboard boxes, Gloves, Charts, Sketches, Crayons, Paints, Metal string, Thread, etc.
Activity 2:Date: 04/09/2019
Lady Sivaswamy, Mylapore: Walk on raising awareness of plastic hazards (50 Students from Class 6,7,8)
Dhanalakshmi & Macaulay, Old Washermenpet: Distribution of paper bags created from activity 1 to local vendors and create awareness on plastic hazards
Avvai Home, Besant Nagar: 60 Students from class 4 & 5 will go on a rally around the school and distribute paper bags to local vendors
Mary Clubwala, Egmore: 20 students from class 6,7,8 & 9 will organize stall in which they sell their materials created in Madras School of Social Work (MSSW).
Sri Balananda, T-Nagar: 57 children prepare charts describing the negatives of plastic usage and sensitizing people about the negative effects of this to the community. Students will distribute paper and cloth bags created in the activity 1 to the shops near the school.
General Cariappa, Saligrammam: 50 Students from class 6,7,8 & 9 will create awareness boards on plastic ban, waste segregation and water management and go around Saligrammam and create awareness and distribute paper bags to local shops.
Seva Samajam, Saligrammam: Students will display the created materials to all the parents and create awareness among the parents on Reducing, Reusing and Recycling the waste materials.
Sarada Model Higher, T-Nagar: Student will exhibit the materials created to all the students of the school and create awareness about 3R’s.
Sarada Model Primary, T-Nagar: Students from 3,4 & 5 go for a walk on raising awareness of plastic hazards.
