we at Lotus Petal Foundation – a for-purpose organization located in Gurgaon, working since 2011 towards getting less privileged children into the formal job market based on its programs in the areas of education, healthcare, and skill development would like to connect with you.

Since inception, we have directly benefited over 12000 children. Alumni from our programs are now placed informal jobs in both domestic and multinational companies. Some students are in higher professional education like medicine. BSR Affiliates (KPMG) is our statutory auditor, our administrative costs are 7.5% and we are certified Great Places to Work.

During COVID lockdown we have transformed into an online school, provided community feeding, and are supporting our beneficiaries to get back their livelihoods.

Food before Education – Over the years we have learned that providing a nutritious breakfast & lunch goes a long way in improving the cognitive learning skills of our school children who come from less privileged sections of society. Since 2014 we have served over 500,000 meals with measured Kcal and protein from our school kitchen and studied the impact on the improved cognition and learning outcomes for over 300 students.

Malnutrition is a silent emergency engulfing our nation & good nutrition has the power to empower present and future generations. The demographic dividend which is strangulated in infancy due to malnutrition can start to blossom with good nutrition. The recent National Education Policy identifies this with the intervention of breakfast in school programs.

Haryana is categorized as an ‘aspirant’ on the SDG-2 checklist with 34% of children showing stunting, 48.3% being anemic and 28% being wasted. Our focus area is the aspirational district of Nuh-Mewat and Gurgaon which have almost 25% school dropout rates.

The need of the hour is to deliver a transformational outcome for these children. Our in-house expertise, based on our systems & processes with scientific rigor, delivered at a low cost would enable the desired outcome.

The Zero Hunger FoodBank™(ZHFBP) platform launched by us has been set up to address these problems by:

1. Providing the relief of food supply during calamities and humanitarian crises.

2. Providing nutritious meals to school children in government and non-profit schools.

3. Supplementary nutrition to address long term malnutrition issues in children from 0 to 5 years.

Our solution design also addresses supplementary issues like direct sourcing from farmers, women’s empowerment, wastage reduction of food, WASH, and primary healthcare.

Building on the experiences of feeding our own school children twice a day & now with the experience of having delivered over 1,60,000 nutritious freshly cooked in-house meals during this ongoing pandemic, Lotus Petal Foundation is uniquely placed to scale this intervention in 100 aspirational villages in Gurgaon and Mewat under the Smartgram project along with our corporate and strategic partners with great hope and enthusiasm.
